Advance, N.C. -- Today, Rep. Ted Budd joined the Economic Development Administration (EDA) to announce a $1.6 million federal grant for the Cooleemee Water Treatment Plant in Davie County.

Rep. Budd said in a statement:

"I'm glad to see my home county win this competitive federal grant for the Cooleemee Water Treatment Plant. This investment in physical infrastructure will help ensure that the citizens of Davie County continue to have access to clean water."

Background on the grant from the EDA:

$1.6 million EDA grant for infrastructure improvements at the Cooleemee Water Treatment Plant to boost workforce and business expansion efforts and economic resiliency.

The project will be matched with $1.6 million in local funds.

Estimated to create 300 jobs, retain 747 jobs and generate $50 million in private investment.
